Velvet Haus was born from a love of beautiful spaces, timeless finds and the kind of gatherings you never want to end.

What started with collecting unique pieces that deserved a second story grew into a vision for something more—a creative event house built around intimate celebrations, thoughtful design and the belief that smaller doesn't have to mean simple.

Based in Grande Prairie, Velvet Haus specializes in event design, styling and curated rentals for intimate weddings, private celebrations and smaller corporate gatherings. My approach is intentionally different: less about following trends or filling a room with décor, and more about creating an atmosphere that feels personal, considered and unmistakably yours.

My collections were built one find at a time—a mix of statement pieces, vintage treasures and unexpected details chosen for their character and ability to transform a space. From the first concept to the final candle placement, every detail has a reason for being there.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Hi, I’m Kalila—the founder, creative eye and treasure hunter behind Velvet Haus.

I’ve always been drawn to the details that make a space feel special: the perfect vintage find, an unexpected statement piece, candlelight hitting a table just right, or the little details that somehow pull everything together.

Velvet Haus grew from that love of creating, collecting and seeing the potential in things others might overlook. What started as an idea has slowly become a collection of beautiful finds and an opportunity to create the kind of intimate, thoughtfully designed celebrations I’ve always been drawn to.

My style is a little moody, a little unexpected and rooted in the belief that beautiful events don't need to be enormous or overdone to make an impact. I love mixing old with new, timeless with modern, and polished details with pieces that have a little history and character.

For me, Velvet Haus is about more than making a space look beautiful. It's about creating a feeling—and giving people a place to gather, celebrate and make memories that stay with them long after the candles go out.

  • Velvet Haus is based in Grande Prairie, Alberta and serves Grande Prairie and surrounding areas. Travel outside our standard service area may be available depending on the event and scope of work.

  • We specialize in intimate weddings, private celebrations, birthdays, bridal and baby showers, engagement parties, anniversaries, corporate gatherings and other smaller-scale events where thoughtful details make the biggest impact.

  • Absolutely - this is our favourite place to start.

    You don’t ned to have every detailed figured out before reaching out. Bring us your date, your space and whatever inspiration you have and we’ll help turn it into a beautifully considered Velvet Haus experience.

  • Yes. Velvet Haus offers everything from individual statement moments to full-service event design and styling. Depending on your experience, we can help with the overall creative direction, tables capes, decor, rentals, installations, personalized details, setup and teardown.

  • Of course. Our collection is meant to complement your celebration, not dictate it. We can incorporate your own meaningful pieces alongside Velvet Haus rentals to create a cohesive final design.

  • Yes! We’re happy to collaborate with your venue, florist, photographer, caterer and other event professionals to help ensure the visual details of your celebration come together seamlessly.

  • Absolutely. Pieces from our curated Velvet Haus Borrowed collection can be borrowed individually, subject to availability and minimum rental requirements. Customer pickup is available for select items, with delivery, setup and styling available as add-ons.

  • May of our pieces can be personalized with custom vinyl, signage, florals or styling details. Tell us what you’re envisioning when you inquire and we’ll help create something that feels uniquely yours.

  • A refundable damage deposit may be required for rental orders. The amount will depend on the pieces selected and the overall value of your rental collection. Clients are responsible for rented items while they are in their care.

  • We recommend reaching out as soon as you have your event date and location confirmed, particularly for weddings and peak-season dates. Smaller rentals and last-minute events may be accommodated depending on availability.

  • Your date is officially reserved once your agreement has been signed and the required booking retainer has been received. An inquiry alone does not hold your date or rental items.

  • Yes. Customer pickup is available for eligible rental orders, or Velvet Haus can take care of delivery, setup and pickup. Full styling and installation services are also available for clients who want us handle the experience.

  • Yes, depending on the event. Events outside our standard service areas are quoted individually and may include mileage, travel time, accommodations or additional staffing where required.

  • We understand that accidents can happen. Any damaged, lost or excessively soiled rental items will be assessed after the event and repair or replacement costs may be deducted from the damage deposit or charged according to your rental agreement,

  • Cancellation and rescheduling terms depend on how close the change occurs to your event date and any work, purchases or commitments already made on your behalf. Full details are outline in your Velvet Haus agreement before booking.
